The Prevention Committee consists of a representative from each of the Local Prevention Councils (LPCs) in Region 5 and other coalition Members, at least one (1) of whom shall be a Certified Prevention Specialist and one (1) who is a member of the Western CT Coalition Board of Directors. The duties of the Prevention Committee shall be to promote the DMHAS Statewide Plan; to assist the WCTC in assessing prevention needs and assets in the service area; to develop, implement and evaluate prevention programs in their respective communities that align with the Regional Priority Planning Report (link to report) and to promote the development and coordination of needed services directed at substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion in the Service Area. 

The Prevention Committee meets in September, November, January, March and May on the third Tuesday of the month from 5-8pm at The Maxx, 94 Railroad Street, New Milford, CT.

Current members include the chairpersons and other leadership from each of the Local Prevention Councils in the Western CT Coalition serviced area.
