SERVICES

Assessment of substance abuse and mental health prevention and treatment needs at the local level. We establish priorities, plan, and implement science-based strategies to improve the quality of health in all of our communities.

WCTC offers technical assistance in the form of coalition building, capacity building and strategic planning to 26 Local Prevention Councils which cover all 43 towns across our region. We provide access to relevant research and help local prevention councils to share resources.

Over the years, we have incorporated behavioral health, including mental health promotion targeted at young people. We coordinate Mental Health First Aid and other multi-day trainings. WCTC staff provide suicide prevention training for a variety of different group, including youth.

We promote The Search Institutes 40 Developmental Assets and provide Positive Discipline parenting classes.

Survey administration, asset- mapping, community-wide presentations of survey findings, alcohol server training (TIPS), upstander programs for college and high school students (Red Watch Band), and Drug Endangered Child programs, among others.

Each year, WCTC committees host a Holiday Open House highlighting local and statewide prevention and treatment resources, a Legislative Breakfast, a Parent Awareness Workshop and a variety of other programs which address current and emerging trends.
